I have seen the Silver King tractors for years at shows. Never paid much attention to them. Was there something special about the? Were they designed for a particular type of crop or tillage practice? Or were they another attempt at a GP tractor? Easy.

There were a few over 8,000 Silverkings made. They were manufactured by the Fate-Root company (maker of switch yard locomotives) to help them through the depression. The tractor caught on and was then manufactured by them or under a different name until the early 50s It started life as the Plymouth in the early thirties. There was a lawsuit with the auto maker over the name, that the tractor co. actually won but then gave the name to the auto manufacturer and then renamed themselves the Silver King. They were known for high speeds on the top end. 21 to around 30 mph. for special highway models.
