I've got a chance to purchase a Farmall M wide front end tractor and was wondering if my truck/trailer will handle the load ? I'd be travling across country. My truck is an F-250 Super Duty and I've got a 18' by 6 1/2 ' car hauler rated up to 17000 lbs. The current owner said he can narrow up the rear wheels to fit, but before I jump at this I'd like some feedback from someone who knows.

Have the guy your purchasing the tractor from set it up for 30" rows - 60" on center wheel spacing. It will be tight but should fit with about 2" extra on each side. The only problem I see is when was the last time the wheels were moved. Het need a 20 foot cheeter bar and/or some heat to loosen up the bolts.

I pulled a 686 with a 78" (6.5 ft) trailer without problem.

The weight is no problem and the truck should be okay. You might have a problem on the width.
If I turn my M wheels around and shove them in , it meausres 80 inches in width. That is with a set of 13.6 X 38 Firestone tires. I would call the guy and ask about the width before I went to get it.

truck and trailer no probelm, youll probably have to turn at least one rear around to get it onthe trialer.Sliding both in wont go enough to get on there unless they are real skinny tires.

Hi Lerm,

A Farmall M weighs about 5500lbs wet according to my book.

Be sure and tie it to the trailer with chains in four places. X the chains slightly towards the center of the tractor from the front and back. This way the tractor can't bounce forward or backwards or sideways during transit. Ratchet chain binders work well.

Pull for a few miles then pull over and recheck your load. Do a walk around inspection every time you stop before you leave. Keep them chains tight!

A Easy way to set your load tonque weight is to set your tongue jack to the ground, then raise it back up 2" off the ground, then load the tractor forward until the jack just touches the ground. This is the added TW of the tractor. Don't forget to raise the tongue jack when done!

You can always bolt 6"/10" channel iron across the bed frame, web up, with angle iron kickers and set the tires inside the channel irons for extra bed width. Like a frame on a frame construction.

If you can move the tires in, thats alot easier.
