I wasn't gonna tell 'cause I didn't want to embarass Allan but...

I had spent about two weeks searching in vain for a bracket for my Farmhand loader. Farmhand was never big in this area and finding parts can be quite a chore. Unable to locate a new part, I came here, to YT, to ask about welding it. Low and behold, Allan in NE spotted my post, knew where to buy a new part (no welding required!) and offered to buy it and ship it to me. Talk about going above and beyond!!!

Thanks Allan. Hopefully someday I can repay your kindness.

Dug

BTW Green is still better than Red!

I aint got one, that's why I come here, so I don't have to play with myself, er, I mean by myself, usually, sometimes, well some of the time I don't play with myself.

Hi Ya Mike,

Nope, 'taint gonna be no back-pattin' around here. This is just being neighbors.

Talked to Migraine out in the North West a few minutes ago. He tells me that he has that heretofore troublesome 966 of his singin' like a bird now.

Put it on the dyno and it is pumping a strong 105 horse with absolutely little or no smoke. Now, if that ain't enough to warm your ol' heart, I just don't know what is. :>)

Later,

Allan

Dug, I have been able to find parts through networking here on YT and by posting queries in the classified section. Some of these parts I doubted even existed, but I"ve come to realize that there are some very knowledgable folks who use this site, and they are valuable resources for guys like us who either seek parts or knowledge. It is no wonder that YT has become the premier site for antique tractor enthusiasts. And the best thing is that it keeps getting better. I too owe much thanks to a lot of folks here for the success of my restorations.

Hi Dug,

No payment needed; glad I could help. This just kinda offsets in a tiny, tiny way the huge favors these guys have done for me. :>)

Just as an aside, you might wanna really watch the travel of that pivot arm right at that particular bearing. Mine had done the same thing as yours and after I had put the new cap on, I noticed that the cap was binding on an old weld at the full "open" extension.

I am wondering if something caused that original cap to split like that on yours?

Tryin' to help,

Allan

You are exactly right, Allan. I caught one of the teeth in a tree and broke the weld. When repairing it, I didn't get it staightened out all the way before welding it. Now it hits the bracket when opened all the way, thus the broken bracket. I think I can move the bracket by drilling new holes and make it work. Hope so, anyway!

Allan, you are just tooooo o sympathetic. You missed that green comment. Just think Dug, if you had had that loader on a red tractor you could have seen the tree and not ruined your goods loader. :-) Harley

Hay Harley,

Actually if I didn't have my head firmly inplanted in a certain bodily orifice, I would have seen the tree and avoided it. Its not like it was a small tree!

Dug

BTW If I had been on a Red tractor, there would not have been enough horse power to do any damage.

Be careful with them loaders. They aint made to trim trees or take down electric lines. And it makes no difference if the tractor color is Red,Green,Orange,Yellow,Blue or Gray. Or any other color.
