This was my first tractor but it was a mistake. The thing that hooked me was that the gas motor always started. put in battery start motor just that simple i swear. no alternater. Heres the deal take one 300 utlitily tractor fix it up with about a thousand dollars. All new valves at the backhoe. one new piston on backhoe. One 23 gallon hydralic pupm. Install oversize hydralic pump, go to work, rip things apart. clutch burnt out and thats all she wrote. So I bought the thing so i didnt have to repair it. I'll be honest, you guys tell me what you think and please dont worry, you wont hurt my fellings. I rebuilt the steering box. but the front wheels dont line up some parts are bent. but probably could be adjusted out to paralell. As i said the clutch is burnt up. one piston that swivels the backhoe is overextended because of a major weld breakdown,(backhoe about fell off)currently tied up with a comealong.i believe piston can be put back together. but im not sure. I am looking for ideas or honest opinions if I dont get good response I am gonna part it out and sell it on e-bay and other forums. I am told this backhoe came on this tractor but im suspius. I can get digital photos in about a week or two. I also have a copied version of the origanal manual in a binder.

currently it is located above Idahoe springs, colorado at 9600 ft. probably under about 12" of snow but in about three or four weeks it will be in Denver colo. and a decision will need to be made about its possible future. any and all suggestion will be taken into account.

Not sure what you are looking for here? Ads should be placed in the selling section, not in the discussion forums - but I see you are looking more for discussion that a sale at this point????

Are the 'pistons' you mention hydraulic cylinders?

What is the brand of the backhoe? You never said. Don't know of an IHC backhoe made at the time of 300's.....

Since the hoe would appear to be too big for the 300, you would need to seperate to sell. No point trying to sell them together if they don't match.

You could sell each as fixer-uppers, or fix them up & sell that way. Sounds like they need some major work, don't know how you will come out on putting the time into them....

Tractors often bring $400-600 if all the parts are there but don't run. Less if the bell housing is broke in half - to burn the clutch? not sure I understand the condion of the tractor here.... I'd worry about most of the rear end & shafts/gears/ castings being shot.

Backhoe depends on the make & size, you didn't say. Is it 3pt, the 300 was a quickhitch.... You are looking at $300-500 or so in it's current shape maybe if it is a fairly modern, fair sized, name brand hoe. Guess I would have too many questions on it's use & abuse to pay more for it, even if the pump & all are worth more - I'd wonder if the thing worked no matter what you said - no way to really check the pins & sleeves either for wear if it isn't operating so would expect the worst there too....

That is how I view it.

you are correct, paul im looking to discuss the possible sale of this machine, either in whole or in parts, not looking to sell at this time unless somebody makes me an offer i cant refuse.
I was told the backhoe was made for IHC by milwaukee but that is just heresay. It is not a three point but mounted permenatly to the tractor. it looks like the machine. in other words it doesnt look out of place, lots of welding going on though. Same kind of frame work as bucket construction. Backhoe hydralic shift lever is definitly origanal. Dont know if 300's had an aux or not.shift levers that we replaced from the backhoe looked like other levers. yes pistons was meant to be said as cylinders. all functions work except blown cyclinder and forward or reverse motion. Engine will fire up and bucket will operate and so will all of the backhoe functions work except left swing. I think the clutch burnt up because of improper adjustment made by well meaning person. steering clutches felt and worked well so did shifting of tranny, but this can only be by my word, but i stand behind it. I appreciate your candor and help. thank you very much.
