Okay guys, i need help finding a manual for a 1952 Minniapolis Moline Bf Avery. Serial number 6V-945. I had the starter rebuilt and she turns over like a Singer sewing machine, but she just won't fire. I'm not sure why yet. Could be the coil(6 volt), could be points adjustment(new points and condenser), not sure if the plug wires are in proper sequence according to firing order. I'd like to get my hands on a service manual, schematic, or owners maunal, or possibly all of the above. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? dtmblues@netdoor.com

thanks guys

It sounds as tho you may be mixing up models, Tha avery V later became the Moline v with the V standing for vegetable and was a small wide front same size as the IHC Cub tractor. The Moline BF was the largest of the series and about the size as a IHC C or John Deere 40 tractor and could have dual trycicle, single front wheel or wide front end and model was changed to BF after Moline started to paint them yellow as it was the former Avery R. The mid size avery was the Avery A and was droped from production when Moline took over. One place you call it a BF then again you call it a V. I think if you go to the left side of this page under tune-Up Specs or une-Up Guide you will find what you are looking for after going into Serial Numbers also on left side of page. The V would have about a 8-9X24 tire, The A a 10x24 tire while the R-BF would be a 28" tire, there was also a BG that was an ofset version of the BF. For good complete information look up the True Draft Club or B. F. Avery Collectors Club

my moline manual lists the specs by what engine you have,if you know. but looking down the list, all the 4 cylinders firing order is 1342 and all the sixs are 153624. all the points set at .020,021 or 022 . if you list your engine i may be able to help. lucas

thanks lucas...this info will help me a great deal. I'm not sure which engine my tractor has,..maybe a Hercules..? I'm not well educated on this tractor and the only info i have to go by is what i've recieved here on YT, which has been very helpful thanks to all the guys who responded to my questions. I'm learning as i go. If i sent you some pictures of this tractor, could you help identify it and the engine...?

thanks again,
Dan Mitchell

I did an ebay search using the words "moline manual" and also "avery manual". I found a few possibilities and emailed them to you.

Also, if you look at the column of links to the left side of the screen, way up at the top you'll see one that says "Tractor Manuals". There might be something you can use there.

i looked at the manuals that you sent, Jim. Quite frankly, i have no idea what i'm looking at. They look like what i need but not sure. Would these manuals have info on specs such as firing order and points gap adjutsment? The tractor i have has BF Avery located in several places on it but i've been told by other members it's a Minneapolis Moline V-type, with the wide front end. A 1952 model, i'm told.

I'm the expert on searching ebay for stuff I don't need. When it comes to Minneapolis-Moline tractors, about all I know for sure is that most of them were yellow! Hopefully someone else will jump in and help with more info.

Also, you could go to the Minnie-Mo discussion forum on this site for more specific help. Just go to the top of this page and look for the "hop to" box. Click on the down arrow and select "Minneapolis-Moline". There's where all the experts are hiding!

Got a serial number?

Go to an Agco dealer with # & talk it over with them. Look for an old guy in the shop of a White dealership, not the young kid up front.....
