Just wondering if one can strip old dealer stickers from a tractor without damaging the paint , using a heat gun ?

I had a Monte Carlo SS with a ton of stripes on it and tried heat gun, goo-gone and was"nt too happy. I got an eraser wheel at the local jobber and it worked great. It looks like an art eraser but on a wheel about 4" in dia. You put it in a drill, cordless works good, and erase the decals. The wheel takes off the plastic and the glue and will not hurt the paint. I even used it on the plastic front and rear bumpers. HTH JF

Try using "RONSON" lighter fluid. I use it on all types of decals and stickers with great success. But this brand of lighter fluid is the only type that will work, use on decals on metal, plastic, fiberglass, glass windows, bottom label on that pretty candle jar mom wants to save... caution, apply lightly and let soak, wipe with soapy cloth, not to briskly, avoid igintion! Might have to do two or more soaks. Can anyone tell me WHY do they wrap a price sticker on a copper fitting, like an elbow or collar with Scotch tape??? Do they not realize one has to spend great amounts of time to peel them off (can"t find the start end) and then wipe glue off (RONSON"S) then start soldering, sheesh! (Added picture as reference not intending direct advertizing for RONSON)

Having owned and operated a autobody shop for over 20 years and deal with this type of problem quite a bit we use a product called GOO GONE or another one called GOOP AWAY. They both soffen the decal and adhesive, but do no harm to the paint or surrounding surfaes.

Yes, we live near the Atlantic Ocean, Delaware Bay and River, so we see our share of boats, with owners changing names, ports and such. Both items stated work equaly fine with no trouble. The jell coat has no reactions.

The older water applied decals don't usually come off with a heat gun, the newer adhesive backed ones will come off,but leave an adhesive residue. Most body supply shops sell an eraser wheel (can be chucked in an electric drill) which will remove the decals and not hurt the paint.
