Upon first look see, you may think that the wind out here did this, but alas not. This was done by some one(s) that had nothing better to do. A cruel joke. I had a Massey 55 on auction from this farmer and was getting ready to post these two Case (1010 / 1060) combines that he was displaying along his feild line with the county road. He called me the other night and told me someone had hooked up some chain and tugged them over with their 4x4's... persons unknown, but deed shown to the world here on YT. Now I am helping the farmer out to find a salvage home for these two dead birds. Have been busy at it and am making headway with one scrap dealer. Seems the rest I talked too are not interested in anything before 1980. Well we'll hope and see. Anyway, thanks for all the WIND REPLYS here on YT forum, made for many smiles... that sure keeps a fella going. Perhaps post you dasterdly deeds done to your stuff so others can watch for risk situations.

Wow!...What brand of 4x4's do they use up in Alberta...Versatile?
The wind down here in South Dakota yesterday was strong enough that the garbage cans in town were rolling like tumble weeds all day.

tugged them over with their 4x4's... ????? ????? I don't think so.
Now tell us the true story emptypockets!
But yes, it was that windy here yesterday. There was a real bad wreck up on the Interstate yesterday caused by poor visibility from blowing dust. several killed and the Interstate was closed for a while.

I only report them as I see them. My first look at the scene I though perhaps the combines were happily travelling through space from the planet JI-Case and met thier end when encountering Earth in their path, but there should of been a crater. No, they were parked up on the edge of the field and precarious to the ditch (I can not spell bullyievard) and the tire marks in the gravel road show a good effort and little pull and jerk toppled them over the edge. Now for Alberta 4x4's, I desire not to get into a challange nor boast we can out pull any other as that would be a sport event... but sporting these combines can't weight that much considering most scrap dealers don't see any weight there I guess we would have to put it to a test. I'll prop them back up on the ditch bank and open up the challenge, set up a beverage and sandwich booth, sell buttons and take pictures. Once they are crushed up to a small ball, then load on auto trailer and haul them away for melt down, all in fun. Serious, I extend my sympathies to those who perished in the dust storm car crash... we have that up here every so often, sad to say. If your up for it e-mail off one of my auction pages and I will send you a humerous Toyota Hilux 4x4 commercial that shows what a 4x4 can do.

Where at on the interstate, Cowman? I'm down in the SE corner, near Tecumseh. I musta missed that one. I know a couple of years ago there was a bad accident on I-80 near Seward due to dust. Supposed to be blowin' hard again today, and keep up until tomorrow night!

Todays average 3/4 or 1 ton 4 X 4 ( 300 HP ) will move a 20,000 lb sled from a dead start to approximately 150 to 200 ft without full spin out pending soil conditions. I would assume those old combines only weigh a fraction of the 20,000 and being on wheels the ground friction is reduced which allows any prankster to yank these combines a short distance and demolish. The weather in Central Alberta is calm today at + 8 degrees C. Ellis

Where in Central Alberta do you live? I live on an acreage a few miles southeast of Barrhead.

Approximately 10 miles east of Edmonton. We are just getting our feet wet in setting up a new Vintage Tractor and Machinery Club within the County of Stratcona and the interest is very high from both the County and its Residents. Ellis

Interesting! Last month I joined the Vintage Tractor and Machinery Club based in Westlock. I'm hoping to bring my first tractor, a 1952 John Deere AW, to their show on June 4 and 5.
Good luck with the club, and most importantly, have fun with it!

Lyndon
