I have three small holes rusted through the waterjacket of a 1939 B block. How can I repair it? Welders say they can"t weld it. Should I try JB Weld or does anyone have a better suggestion?

Thanks!

Earl S. Thanks for the info. You are the second person to recommend this. The holes are on the exterior bottom of the block. I am going to try a new product called Magnum Steel. It's a putty with hardener that is supposed to be as hard as steel. A small package was $5. A John Deere dealer recommended it. The package claims that I can drill, tap or machine it in one hour. What do you think? Harold R

I did a J D B many years ago for a guy he forgot todrain it and it broke a big pice out of the bottom of the block we found most of the pices and like a jigsaw puzzel we fitted them all back that we could find i pre heated the block with a rose bud tip cleaned the pices up wit a grinder and started tacken them in then went in with the grinder and Vee them out and started stich welding them in with Ni cast and peened after i would weld about and inch and a half kept it up till i had to do the bridge work and filled in with weld kept the heat on for a while then started backing the heat down , now to my knolage that when the old man died and the old Deere sold at his sale it was still running and not leaking.

The holes are on the bottom of the block through the water jacket. They are about the size of a thumbnail (after we broke it out to get to solid metal).
