I just bought a Farmall tractor because I want to get into tractor pulling. My problem is that I don't really know what I bought. The serial number is 7090J Model SH. I think that the SH stands for Super H. I was hoping that someone could help me with the year and what the J in the serial number means.Thank you for your time!

If I remember right, the J stands for a Rockford clutch. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong. Larry

Dottema,

There were two different clutch manufacturers that supplied clutches for IH - Auburn and Rockford. The Rockford clutch is supposed to be a lot better clutch than the Auburn. I don't know whether they are or not.

Dottema:
The serial # would make it a 1953 model. Not sure about the "J"- did you take this number off of the serial plate or somewhere on the tractor frame>? I

Thank you for your response. I got the serial number off a tag that was located on the left side of the clutch housing.
