Do any of you have any experience with the blasting cabinet that is continually advertised in a full-page ad in the Antique Power magazine every other month? I would be interested in any comments about this product, good and bad. It is sold by TP Tools & Equipment. I look forward to your responses.

I"ve got a blast cabinet that is really unique and works great. It"s called the barrel blaster and is made in Texas. Their website is www.barrelblaster.com

Have a 960 cabinit unit from TP tools and really like it, You need a good compressor, water filters, good regulators and I would also get the "foot control" valve set up, a lot easier to use.

Trumans or TIP out of Ohio sells a plan to make a pretty large one from one 4x8 sheet of plywood. My father made one for me on his radial arm saw.Im not sure if I have the plan still[but I could look for i.]I purchased the window and gloves from them.It has worked out well.I puton some angle iron legs.So far it doesnt show wear on the wood. Its total cost with a pack of tear off window covers was about $100.Just a sugestion.

dr. sportster,, what are you using on your cabinet to pull the dust out ? We built on also, from plywood. Big enough to blast a 39" rim in. Have not figured out how how to pull the dust out though. Gets to where you can't see through the window.

Well TDK I forgot all about that part.I bought the thing from TIP thats a glorified ,tall,Shop vac type thing .The bad news is I paid $200 for that as I recall.Ive never cleaned or maintained it at all.It blasts your hearing a little and Ive left it unplugged at times. But it does clear the dust.It comes on with the cabinet light switch.I guess yours is the same switch per instructions. The window tear offs work good to protect the glass.Dont know if you tried them.

Thanks for the info. I'll start looking for one. Tried the Shop Vac, it went south pretty quick. Ours wasn't a kit, it's all home built ,but it is a good idea to wire it in with the light. Thanks again !

Good Shop Vac will do the job fairly well but not for long.Vacs are not really built to run for extended periods and their standard filters can pass abrasive dust, however extra fine filters are available for some models.Properly one should use a dust collector made for the job.Just plug the hose into a snug hole in the cabinet...matching size vent hole will be needed to allow makeup air in and create crossflow.

I have a cabinet that is close to identical that I purchased from a local air compressor dealer at about the same cost. Looks identical, and probably is. I love it and use it often. Sure saves on dragging the big blaster out for smaller parts. Main thing is to have enough air cfm. I don't seem to have any humidity problems, but am in central Kansas, so I don't know about where you live. Main thing is to drain bottom of air compressor often, and have water filter on regulator. Not perfect but works for me. In the long run, don't know how I got along with out mine.
