This is what you would like to see when you split a tractor! All I did was drain the fluid from the housing and split the tractor. Snaped this photo with it still on stands in the shop. Very Happy again! Sure don't look 501 years old does it!! Mark H.

Why isn't there even a drop of fluid left in any of the crevices, corners, splines, etc.?

..... .just curious.

Has this tractor ever ran? Looks like a factory classroom trainer. LOL!

Re: Steering Sector Gears worn down? in reply to leland, 02-24-2005 20:18:51
Last night I pulled the steering Box apart and it had some pin holes in the bottom plate so the grease had seeped out and the steering gears had worn down to cause slop in them. They now need replacing. Mark H.

No it had mud and grease on the out side so it was worked but sure does not look like it on the inside?? The front spindles are even clean with the original paint on them no rust or that grease you have to chip off because it is so hard. Mark H.

I realy have never looked for any other types but the Fergusons TOs and Ford Ns. I know how to work on them and the parts are smaller to deal with. There isn't very many of them left with in 100 miles of me now except running 3,000.00 ones or total junk rusted out hulks. Mark H.

It sounds and looks like you should of used the parts tractor and scrapped the other one.

Your right it was in better shape than the other one?? Now that I have it apart I feel bad because the other one should have been instead! Least he is getting a nice rear end assembley. Mark H.

I beleive this Transmission has been replaced. I have seen MANY Transmissions and this is the cleanest one ever! Again all I did was drain the fluid, no flushing or cleaning at all done to it. I do not see any wear on the parts even tho the shifter has wear on the post that does the shifting. Mark H.

Those tapped heads on the bolts and the wires used to lock them, is that factory? You would know, not me. Is a great idea whenever possible. Would like to think the factory engineered it that way.

Is very clean.

Yes that is the way it is supposed to be done in the Ferguson. Keeps things from coming loose. Mark H.
