Hi Bill,

Don't know Case numbers. Is that a Japanese tractor?

tom, its a case/ih 385, 35hp diesel. its about 15yrs old. my head has a bad crack & the mach shop said it couldnt be fixed. the case dealer wants $1500 for a new one, too steep for me. ive been trying on the internet to find one but my level of intelligence is limited. if you know where i can find one would be really app. by the way what part of va. do you live in? thanks bill

Hi Bill,

I'm S. of Charlottesville. Reason I asked was I was told that my slightly older and smaller Mitsubishi was also a Case, with a blue paint job. Case dealer showed me the door when I went to ask. Don't know how you could tell for sure, but there's a lot of Mitsubishi help available elsewhere. And likely more scrapped tractors.

You might try another shop. I got turned down by 4 machine shops when I was looking for somebody to make my front axle stronger than the original cast iron that I broke. Finally found a retired machinist with the talent to match my imagination. Same guy later made me custom tranny gears for my Cat that Cat no longer supplies.

Unfortunately he won't work for anybody else. Took a liking to me for some reason. Partly 'cause I repaired his kiln, early 50's that the local GE plant, where he worked, told him was beyond hope. Instead of repairing the vacuum tube control, way beyond me, I put new digital control on it. Works fine. Guess they didn't think of that.

Anyhow, you might try here: Link
