it was a basic "how do i buy a tractor when i don't know anything" showent. what i saw was a couple 20 somethings, one rep the jd attchments and one the dealership, and a 40 something division chief from the agusta assembly plant.

the hilarious segment was the call-in part. they got hammered by real tractor folk and what did all of the jd'ers have in common?? i'm prettty sure none had ever been on a tractor or if they had it was at the dealer lot.

the callers had great questions, similar to what we have here. the jd'ers had no idea what they were talking about for the most part.

example question: "for some reason you moved the rear hydralic connections on the 20 series up under the brake pedal in the center of the tractor. now all my hoses are short. what should i do?" answer: "we have an extension kit you can purcahse to move the connections to the back of the tractor".

it was all about money and demostrated that tractors are now either compact(mini)3-5 acres ranchettes or huge monsters. no room for real tractor men in the mix.

sad state of affairs

Also, did you notice that the copyright at the end of the program belonged to John Deere, not RFDTV or the video production company. Just a 1 1/2 hour commercial for JD, no real information.

I was really enlightened in finding that if you farm just a few acres your needs may be drastically different than if you farm large acreage. So nice to know!
