Hello Everyone,

Thought you might be interested in knowing
Microsoft has decided to give away free anti-spyware software to combat the growing
problem. I downloaded it and it performed
more affectively than any of the other software
I have. It located a trojan that was causing regular problems for me. You do, of course,
have to own a licensed software product (like
windows) in order to get this software. The
download process will ask for your authentification code located either on your PC or on the software CD. Here is a link:

Besr regards,

I have it installed on this puter, it runs everyday. It will not find a lot of things that AdAware does, or Spybot, either one is better than the new FREE Microsoft one that you are talking about, I have all three, and run the other 2 every other day. The Microsoft can run, do its thing, then I will run the AdAware, and the AdAware will find 15 or 20 items that Microsoft missed.

Just to be picky... how could a anti-spyware progam find a trojan? Is this an anti-spyware or an anti-virus program?

Colokan,

I understand what your are asking, the funny thing
is that when this was detected the software
identified it as "trojan" and labeled it as very high risk and disruptive. I do not think it meant it was a virus, but rather that was the labeling as it was reported. Since I am not a professional computer person I can only tell
you what was identified in layman terms, sorry.

No big deal Tim. To be exact, which I'm not, don't think trojans are virus any way. Sounds like a great program. Kenny

As I understand it..
Viruses-deliberately cause computer/programs to not work properly or fail, damage computer software.
Trojans-Allow outside access to computer or allow unwanted things in thru back doors, under guise of being useful.
Spyware/Adware-report activities/uses of your computer back to advertisers/vendors.
