Just bought a case 2470 - we have never had a 4 wheel drive before. Dad used it the other day to pull a couple of huge oak tree trunks down to the wood pile. while pulling one trunk out of the ice and snow , he noticed that just the front left and rear right wheels were spinning. Is this normal or should all 4 wheels turn? 1st time we use it and dont know what to expect.. please fill me in. thanks - Joe Wi

That is normal, pickups are the same way if they have open differentials.

I had a 2470 from '85 until last fall. No differential lock on it, don't know if it was ever available on them. So the spinning is normal. Takes a while to get used to not stepping on the brake to make a 180 turn in the field, since it doesn't have individual wheel brakes.

Unless it is equipped with a locking differential, seeing one front and one rear wheel spin is normal.
