Can an N14-460 be uprated to 500 if the drive train and radiator are heavy enough for it.

That extra 40 hp really does not make that much differance, mine only gained a few miles per hour and really did not pull all that much better and lost about a 1/2 mile per gal.

The drive train and radiator will stand it alright. The setting can go to 500 maybe even 525 without changing the turbo.

Do you understand the Cummins CPL system? Find a CPL manual look up the CPL for the horsepower you want. Look up your CPL number and then compare the numbers on the componets.

Thanks for the info. I'm not familiar with the Cummins CPL system but I know someone who will be. Been thinking about updating to a newer truck and would like to get one with an N14 instead of a Detroit 12.7 this time.

What is the horsepower rating in your Series 60? These newer alliances between the truck manufactures and the engine manufactures limit some of that stuff. My neighbor has all Cummins except one series 60 wanted to find another series 60 which is NLA in his brand. Good Luck

Mine was a 365-400 when it came from the factory. Before I got it someone changed it from 1800 to 2100 rpm. After I had it about a year I had it uprated to 425. The torque rating of 1450 was not changed. It does pull the hills a little better now. 425 sounds a little better than 365 at the coffee shop too.
