Have worked our ground with my 1850 gas Oliver for couple years. Was wondering what this tractor will pull in terms of a plow? I do have duals if needed, but I"d rather use just singles. They are fluid filled. I pull my 22"disc not really deep usually if that helps

OG,

At 77 horse, it should handle 4-18s pretty well, I would think.

The 1850, 4020, 190XT, etc. were all considered five bottom (16") bottoms in our area. The area had a mix of light to heavy clay soil. I also depends on how fast you are plaqnning on plowing. These tractors normally used plows that worked best between 3 and 4 mph (second gear on the 1850). Newer plows are designed to be pulled faster to turn the soil over correctly. As a result, they take more power. Irom on the plow tends to wear out faster when you plow faster.

This was the question I asked when looking to buy the 1850 we have.

Look in the Archives on the Oliver forum. Some really good responses there. One guy tells about driving away from a 4020 while they were plowing together. I believe they were using 6 bottoms.

92 pto hp, would be comparable to a JD 4020. Me, I would put a 4-16 plow on it, some might try more in lighter soils, but it is a gas engine, they get a little tired, why work it all to death.

You will run some fuel through it!!!!!

I think the 4-16 is a good idea. If your 1850 still has the aluminum M-S carburetor and you turn them down to about 88-90 horse they take a lot less fuel than at the 95 horse most of them run. We sold about 10 diesel to each gas 1850. The 1750 with the 283 cubic engine is a very good gas tractor on fuel in terms of power output.
