I have a Ford 3000 equipped with a Du-Al front end loader and a Gresen Valve body Model 2712U that operates the loader. Five days ago, the loader refused to lift and the bucket refused to dump. The loader simply jerks and the engine/pump sounds if it is straining. In fact, the levers appear to operate in reverse order. For instance, usually when you pull back on the boom lever, the loader lifts. Now, when the lever is pulled back, the loader attempts to lower itself. The same situation is true of the bucket lever. The loader appears to behave as if it is in a bind with itsself. One of the hose connections on the valve body appears to be trying to leak fluid even though the hose connector is torqued down. It appears there may be an extreme amount of pressure coming back to this hose.

I need help. What has happened?

2712 is a Gresen casting number. I would agree with everybody. If you are at a loss with the Power beyond thing you may or may not have it. If you have 2 outlet lines you have power beyond. In other words the valves has 7 lines attached to it. One is the return from that valve the other line goes downstream to the next hydraulic function. Your valve has 2 spools and the first spool has a float position. I can snail mail you Gresen information if needed.

apparrent reason,

Dave, I think you are talking about Quick Connectors. If you are having problems with them check the groove the locking balls seat in. If it has worn spots they will not hold the two halves close enough to open the valves in the ends and should be replaced.

I am with Bob, return is likely restricted or plugged. Do you have a return filter? Sometimes the inner linning in a hose can come adrift and plug the hose also. I would take the hose off at the valve outlet and run the return oil into a bucket for a quick check.

Do you have any Quick connectors on the valve to operate any remote equipment through Power Beyond? They can get worn and restrict or block flow. It sounds like your return to tank is restricted.
