OK,

Thanks again for the help this morning. Drove the Suburban around for awhile and went through Two 15A fuses for the turn signals. Seems to coincide with turning left, but not quite sure yet. Is there a trouble shooting procedure to try to narrow down the location of the short?

Again Thanks,

Kirk

If the brake lights work without blowing a fuse that eliminates a problem to the rear lights.
If it will work for a time have someone hit the brakes and see if the left is dimmer than the right if not check if the front turn signal is dimmer on the left.Try a new bulb.BTW put grease in your trailer plug, stops corrosion and you can get it apart.

If it"s a stumper check on the drivers side inside the frame rail at the trans. If it"s had trans work the loom can get pinched under the crossmember upon reinstall.

I had a Suburban once, had a problem with the left turn signal. Bought it new in 1988
worked fine for a few years. Then it developed
a dead short. Turns out that where the wire runs
inside of the frame, some one at the factory had inadvertly clamped the wire under a bolt and eventually it wore thru. Fixed it by running a new
wire front to back.

75% of all the problems are created by someone . Look for alterations and fixes.

Visually inspect the wiring to the front and rear turn signals. It's pretty exposed in the back, and may have suffered road debris damage. Also, it can chafe in the frame rail area, and any trailer connector harness that may have been added is a likely trouble source.

In rare instances, the filament supports in the bulb may be damaged, allowing internal connections to short. I have seen this in bulbs that survived some crash impact damage.
