I have been using an older PTO drive, single row Potato digger made by International Harvester and the apron chain in the bed of the digger is wearing very thin, although it hasn't broken,(...and I don't know why!)I expect it may any time now. Where can I buy a new chain for the bed?

there are several Mfgs of chain that you can order from, ACME, Brokema, and Noffsinger are three of them.you will need to know the width of your chain the pitch you want and the number of links needed to go around your machine you will also want to order new drive sprockets at the same time so they will fit your chain properly.another thing you will need to decide on is weather you want hook chain or belted chain for your application. neither are cheap but the belted chain may last longer and it does not wear crooked like hook chain will but can be harder to repair if it breaks.you may be able to find a local supplier on the net if you do a search for digger chain. you may have to have what you need special ordered as it may not be a stock size anymore but most mfgs will make what you need usually.

I got my last conveyor chain for my digger at N.S. Manufacturing in Oregon at 800-340-3012. They can supply any size potato
coveyor chain as well as sprockets.

Yeah. I was reading in the paper last week where a ten pound bag of Prince Edward Island potatoes costs less right now than a medium cup of Tim Horton's coffee.

There's something wrong here.

Thanks for the info. I will contact the folks in Oregon. I suspect new chains will cost more than the whole digger did. It still works well as is, but sooner or later something is going to let go. I would imagine I could buy an awful lot of potatoes for the price of a chain too. Thanks again. cal
