Just want to ask how many here tow a tractor to shows on a tandem (5000#) trailer, using their motor home or camper. Just what kind of miledge do you get on gas or diesel? What kind of transmission and engine do you have. I want to pull my 10-20 md to shows. Thanx JM

I've towed an 8N from FL to OH, an 8N and an 850 from OH to FL (separate trips) on a 23' deck tandom trailer behind a 34' class A Itasca with 460 Ford and E4OD. Trailer weighs about 2Klbs and of course has brakes. No problems at all. I had beefed up the frame extension on the MH. I used OD when ever the tranny was not "hunting" and the engine was not lugging. When I got into the hills I would force downshift and lock out the OD. I had a Banks transcommand on the tranny. Fuel mileage was around 6MPG, if I remember right. I was under the GCVWR of the Motorhome.
I have a diesel pusher MH now but have not towed the loaded trailer with it other than to run the brake controler to the MH and test drive the brakes. The DP pulls my Jeep Wrangler towed just fine, I don't know it is there.

Hi; Yes, we tow with a 34ft Allegro Bay, slideout, 460 auto trans., 5.13 gears. Don't tow in od. Last summer we towed our 1950 AR JD around MN. About 200m was our longest trip one way. Have a 20ft two axle trailer. Looooong. Take a 4wheeler with to use at the shows. Works grt. Stops good, (new trailer). Slow on hills. Change Trans fluid and filter 2 times a summer. I redid the hitch, using 2x2, 1/4 square tube, going from the bottom of the truck frame to the bottom of the hitch. We take smaller tractors 99% of the time. We have a crew cab dually diesel.... BUT the wife loves the slideout!! Have a grt time go for it !! Bob

I have no experience towing with a camper but I would watch out for the ones that have a long overhang out the back. The more distance form the back axle to the hitch ball, the more leverage the trailer has to wag the dog.
