Prestolite?

Did Case ever use a prestolite generator on a 401 diesel? My manual says they used only autolite on the diesels. They also used delco-remy on a few other models. My 401 has both a prestolite generator and regulator set-up and a prestolite selenoid for the starter. What gives?

Remember Prestolite is the Auto-Lite replacement. Both Auto-Lite and Prestolite were made in Toledo Ohio. I can not tell you why the name change but may be able to find out. So logic would have it if the Auto-Lite unit failed it would be replaced with a Prestolite. Now I have a question, I had to test one for a Case one time and it was a rebuilt and would not work, but it was a B circuit generator. Did Case use any B circuit generators?
