Boss asked me to check oil on the "company car" the other day - checked overflow tank on antifreeze as well and noticed it was orange colored. Is Ford using Dexcool or something similar on their late models? This one's a 2003 Taurus station wagon.

need to restate what i said below...there is a specialty orange that is used in the gas engine car and trucks (from about '00 on). the gold that i spoke of is for the 6.0L diesels and a few late build 7.3L. the specialty orange is not dexcool compatible. i work for ford in parts so i looked this morning. wasn't sure what went in what last night cause the techs just come up and ask for what they need without myself knowing what their working on:)

Does that mean the dexcool problems aren't present in Fords?

We recently bought an '04 Ford van (gas) but would have bought an '05 if the antifreeze had been green. I've heard of/seen incredible problems in Chevs. Had been wondering how long it would be until we had to make a change in the Ford.

ford does not use dexcool. the antifreeze in the tauras is what ford calls gold. they used green uptill around 00 on most models. a few overseas built cars(ie.cougar, mistiuqe sp? and a few others)used an orange that iscompatible with dexcool but that's it. the rest of the vehicles are either the standard green or the special gold.
