This time I busted the other lower 3 point hook up pin on the rear blade! Darn Frozen Cow Pies! Snapped that baby off clean moving forward slow this time and it swung the blade around and snapped the 1 inch thick upper eye bolt on the end of the upper link bar!! So now I am all new again on the hook up points. I figure that over the years the metal just work hardend to the point of fracturing. Time will tell winter still has a ways to go and plenty of hidden Cow pies in the snow. Mark H.

Look around and find yourself a good used John Deere blade I found a # 115 with a 9 foot blade for dad for $800 we use it on the 4020. These are a very good blade.

Hi Willy,

I spent some time above Conconully (sp) looking over the old Ruby mine tailings. Was quite interesting how they all got hoodwinked from a US Senator from Portland,Or in the 1800"s. Geez can"t remember his name, too many moons ago.

Nice area tho as I spent 3mths there.

They only stick to the ground where I plow to the dirt for them to lay and eat on. Then the cow pies will stick good being nice and wet at first. Other wise they freeze off the ground and not a problem. I had to clean the barn today! Mark H.

Shouldn't they lay on the snow in this weather? Better insulation than the cold ground???

Mine will lay on an old bale first, snow second, dirt third, and rarely lay on the concrete when it is this cold when given choices. Bout the same for feeding.

Of course, we only have an inch of snow this year, and when we have more on a normal year (40 inches or so) it gets whipped into a hard bank, perhaps you get a different snowfall.....

They have straw in the barn if they want to lay in there. It seems they like the cleared area when the suns out. Since I have to clear it to do the barn they all go out and stand or lay in it when I am done? Mark H.

No easy solution. back blades are not designed to plow snow but they are a cheap alternitive to the real thing. I guess you take the bad with the good.

If you decide to get a new one, go buy a King Kutter, thats what we did and we bought one rugged enough so the tractor would spin before it broke. Works real good and isn't painted an expensive color. Only problem I have with it is it's very heavy and doesn't have a stand, so we use an old army gun crate to set it down on when we are not using it so we can just back right up and hook up.

I will have to look at one. Heard a lot of good about that style. The upper Pin Mount on mine was a rod that went all the way across the front and the ends were turned down to Cat 1 Pins. I think that is what made them a weak point. The pins I have now are 6 inch long ones with the big nuts on them welded into place using the nuts and shaft. Much stronger point now. Mark H.

The Link Bars on the Massey 135 are real thick and strong don't think they would bust to easy. I was suprised to break the upper link it was a original one and a Cat 2 Pin 3/4" Rod thru a 1 inch Eye fine thread bolt! Mark H.
