Iused to make a special batch for moms laying hens with a small Farmhand grinder-mixer. I would find the prettiest Alfalfa hay and feed it in a flake at a time with the largest screen in. Seems like I used four bales. Then equal batches of wheat and barley to top it off.

What kind of chickens? layers or broilers
What kind of beans? Soy
Did you boil the beans? trypsin in beans is toxic to chickens. They must be boiled at 180 deg for 15 min.
Can they get to pasture and bugs.
Is the protein of your grain average. corn 8 or 9 and soybeans 15 or 16 %.

Thanks for posting the "chicken link"...lots of good factual information that can be used.
During our SD winters I try to remember to have a few pans of oat sprouts always started for our hens. They really seem to relish fresh "greens" when they can't get outside.
