I am new to the board but have enjoyed it for a couple years. A, little about me! I am a retired military tech(fancy name for mechanic). have worked on wheel barrows to tanks.the only thing I know about a 60 is its yellow and green, not sure what shade.Question jd 60 clutch operating sleeve. can the ear that slides over the pin be drilled,a new bushing welded in and drilled to fit a new pin? any advice appreciated. thanks

It can be done that way or several other ways. I have made new pins before and built the hole back up with weld. Main thing is that it does not rock back and forth as this effects the engagement and disengagement of the clutch. I would caution against getting too precison of a fit as that it may bind up.

There is a link to Dengler on the johnnypopper board. They sell rebuilt clutch pulleys with new ears welded in. It may need dogs, pins and toggels too. The bearing on the end of the crank and the crank it's self often gets ratted out too. Seems most operators can't read the manual and leave the tractor running without the pulley spinning. Identical to taking a standard foot clutch and holding it down with a stick while running for extended periods. How long is the throwout bearing going to last? Under size driving disks too if the crank splines are worn. A 60 isn't supposed to have a yellow stripe, just a yellow lettering. Seems the tractor jockeys put a yellow sripe on anything JD & two cylinder during a Dupont overhaul.
