I have acquired an old optical tachometer, but the meter movement is bad. Does anyone know where I can get a Weston model 7541 meter movement?

If it is a moving coil meter it is an current meter either way - volts or current. As it will likely take only micro-amps to operate at full scale deflection (fsd) it will either have a "shunt" or "multiplier" depending on whether it is operating on measuring a current or voltage. This may be external or internal to the meter, but most likely there will be some form of external circuit, in the form of a sensitivity (fsd) adjustment which may offer a clue as to the meter operating mode.
Hope this helps.

The company I work for used Weston meters for years in our control systems. They were typically purchased from a company called Metermaster. We have not used them in several years now, so I don't know if they are still around or not. Do a google search for Metermaster.

Ebay????

Do you know what type of meter it actually is... millamp, Volt, etc.?

If you know (and it may be labelled on the old meter) what it is, you could substitute another make of meter with the same full-scale rating, and calibrate a new scale for it.

I looked it over with that intention, but there is no information on it, only the meter model number.
