When I rebuilt mine for my Bolins I found that the "small bore" and "Large Bore" Onans are the same block... The small bore block can be bored to the same as a large bore, and the price was about the same... What I ended up using was a new shortblock for a small BobCat that a fellow had and didn't use... I had to ues the old crank in the new block, so everything there is the same..!! Even all of the sheetmetal for the blower housing fit..!! Sure has a lot more power..Original rating for that mower was 16 HP--I would guess more like 20 now...(ofcourse I ported it and put seperate exhausts on it)... Here, we can get our Onan parts at the "Great Dane Semi-trailer dealership...Hilliard, Ohio.. One GOOD place to look for new discount Onan engines is at "Glen's Surplus" in Shelby, Ohio. I believe a complete NEW Onan 2-cylinder engine is in the range of $799.oo Complete all the way.. Ron..

I have heard from a few diffent sources that Onan engines do not hold up after a rebuild, my suggestion would be to find a short block.

Cy, I can get you what you need, but it will not be cheap. If you will post what you need, with the engine numbers, I will get you some prices on the parts you need. Ot if you want, email me the info of what you need.

Howdy Cy,
You don"t mention which Onan...
Onan sold out to Cummins Engine a few years ago.
Cummins is the best place to get a kit that I know of. But get ready for a shock. They are pricey!! I was going to rebuild the 2 cyl CCKA Onan on my welder a couple of years ago and looked everwhere online to no avail. Finally my cousin steered me to a guy who had a new short block and I bought that instead. $800
I figure it was worth it.
I had at a couple of thousand hours on that engine before it needed Anything.
Good luck
Jerry

I have an Onan that is using oil and needs a starter. Was told by a local engine rebuild shop that the only source for Onan parts is John Deere.
(He knows my tractor is John Deere)There is a small engine parts supplier in a city near me that advertises Onan. I called them for the starter and was told they could get it. Didn't ask about the rebuild kit but intend to. I had no luck on the net. Might just buy a rebuild at the show in Febuary.
