... going to look at a 2-135 white at the end of the week. Has anyone ever have any bad luck with one of these? Is there anything that I should specificaly be looking at? Thanks. Hound

I bought one new in "79 and it is still my big tractor. I only run 250 acres with cattle and hogs, with only my wife for help. It has been a great tractor. The only draw back was an overhaul at 3000 hrs, but the mechanic said the problem has been cured with the new set of pistons and rings, like the last post referred to with the rings. It is a great cold weather starter but plug it in if under 30 degrees for easier starting. Does like its fuel though. The shifter can get a little sloppy over time or if it has lots of hours on it.

The 2-235 is an excellent tractor. As with anything, past maintenance is important. Some of them had problems with initial ring clearance being too great resulting in ring failure. The new piston-sleeve sets have corrected that problem. Most of these had around 170 HP with cold fuel, so if you add a fuel cooler off of a 185, you can maintain the 170 HP, otherwise the HP will fall as the fuel temp rises, but you will still have 135 HP.
