Can someone tell me how well Deere disk tiller's worked? I have a model 15 that I think is a 12 footer. I also would like to know how the Krause compares in ruggedness and performance. I am interested in these and would like to here from some who have used them. Thanks. R Wyler

R Wyler, My Dad bought a brand new tiller seris 8ft cut oneway plow in 1968 This one had the Stinger wheel (coulter) instead of the heavy weighted angles tailwheel. Going from an old IH 5ft cut to this 8ft cut rig was a major jump in work getting done. Easier to set, run corners, and change for transport was a joy. It was all rubber tired, unlike the steelwheel thing we parked.
It was a single shaft of 12 or 14 disk. A little over 8 ft long.
Now, don't confuse the subjest by thinking that damm Surflex-tiller series is what I am talking about. This plow is IMOSSIBLE to set, make plow, it ridged, was allaround piece of junk!!!!!
one of Deeres worst ideas. It had sections of 5 or 6 disk / section. A 3 section plow was about 15 ft cut. The trick was to set it so all sections plowed as if it were one unit. It was meant to compete with the Krause 14 to 20 ft flat land oneways Hope this helps.
Later,
John A.

If it has the coulter tail wheel it should do great. Depending upon the soil where you are if equiped with just the weighted wheel it might be a little light and want to swing around.

The International one-way was considered to be the best in our area. Of course it was a later one-way than others.

We had a Shaeffer (the worst), an Independent (good), Internationals 2-12' & 1-15' our first hydraulic lift ones (very good), and a John Deere with weighted wheel (okay, especially for the price).

By the time I had my Case 1070 we had pretty well stopped using one-ways. However on occasion they were still the implement of choice. I have hooked a 12' and a 15' together, and I have hooked the two 12' models together to pull with the Case. You can cover a lot of ground in a day that way.

Just remember that it isn't conservation tillage, but when useed on occasion can do a good service.

Last summer when I tried mine it was swaying from side to side I see in a pic the dealer printed off for me thet had a wieght box and mine no longer has that. Did Krause oneway's need wieght or were they heavy enough on their own?? R Wyler

The Krause one-ways did indeed have weight boxes on them. I had forgotten that I currently have a Krause that I bought in a bundle deal of about 10 items. It still has the weight box on it.

Krause plows are made in the city where I live although I am not aware of them still making one-ways. Personally I think the International one-ways were about the only ones that didn't have nor need additional weight. I expect soil conditions make up for that requirement a lot. I'm now in sandy soil so doubt the need for a weight box should I use the one-way.

Thanks for the info Greenbeanman. Krause no longer builds a oneway or at least they do not list them on their site. Do you know of any Krause oneways on hydraulic that can be bought?? I would like to have one in good shape. I am in north central OK.
