It forms the same ice on the inside too.... My IHC 300 is real bad on this, any humid days the ice builds up, even when hot the carb will stay iced. Some gasline antifreeze will help a little bit, getting warm air directed at the carb will help it. don't overdo that, or you'll get the other problem, vapor lock.

The frosting is caused by the evaporative cooling effect of the gas vaporizing in the carb throat. If there is water vapor in the air, it will condense and freeze in the carburetor air passage and cause it to run ratty because it chokes down the air supply. As the other folks have said, adding external heat from the exhaust manifold can help. When it happens on my TO-30, I just let it run until the exhaust manifold gets hot enough to transfer heat to the intake manifold, since they are one unit.

Most of the vehicles made at the end of the carb era had some type of hose up from the intake manifold to the carb. Often refered to as the preheater hose. Perhaps you can adapt some thing to warm your carb or the air going into it. If you can it should cure the problem.

Pretty normal if its cold and humid out. Some times you can help it by makeing a shield that holds some of the warm air off the engine
