I'm trying to adjust the width of the rear tires on my 1650 diesel rowcrop. I have taken off the tire so only the hub is on the axle, loosened off all the nuts of the U - bolts and I cant get the hub to slide out, or the u- bolts to come out- they're almost rusted out so I want to replaced them but I cant get them out, even a sledgehamer doesn't work. Would it be a wise idea to cut the u- bolts out if I cant get it loose any way or would it be a better idea to drive the tractor around a bit to try to loosen it up?

Thanks for any advise

Merry Christmas, Paul

I had the same problem with my 1655. I think you are on the right track. Don't try to save the u-bolts; those fine threads are probably gone already. Remove the nuts and soak and pound the u-bolts out of the hubs. I bought new u-bolts from a local wheel manufacturer for a fraction of what AGCO wanted.

I am not sure about the exact method of clamping here, but would running with the clamp loose for a bit help break it loose. I would be carefull not to run much after it had broken loose, you don't want to wallow out the keyway or splines.
