Hi all. I have been scrapping metal for neighbors and other farmers, and today I started clearing out a cattleman's junk pile, just down the highway. Lots of old stuff, including 2 horse-drawn sickle mowers. Look to be in good shape, with a trade mark that is a large C, with a large I and an H inside the C. Is this a logo for International Harvester? This lid is also stamped "Regular Gear" and "#9". I'm thinking that there must be someone willing to pay more than scrap price for these old farm antiques. Anyone have any suggestions on where to advertise? Thanks, John

I forget just where you are at but I think you are quite a bit away from me. Exactly where are you and what model mowers do you have and what condition are they and what price are you asking for them? Leroy at lesfarm@bright.net

Lerot, I live 5 m south of Columbus, Mississippi. You mentioned Deere & McCormick. Can you explain the logo that I described in previous post? John

That I & C 7 H stand for International Harvestor Company and they made the McCormick and also the Deering Mowers, the Deering being different than the McCormick units and not as desireable for use but as desireable for coluctors. The Deering is not in any way related to John Deere. If I were closer I would be interested in both but I live in Wapakoneta Ohio and have never been farther than Ill. in that direction, How far would that be 1000? mile? As for my name(handle) it was supposed be Leroy but finger hit the wrong key and did not see it till after it was posted. The regular gear refered to the operating speed and was the normal And McCormick made the model 9 as the last horse drawn mower they made up till the mid 50's and the No. 7 just before with the No. 4 and New Big 4 earlier and I have those in my colections. The John deere Big 4 was their last Horse drawn mower and also built up to the 50's as well
