Could someone tell me what ford bolt pattern and what size tires I can use on the front of a 8N That I am picking up in month.

Much appreciated

Why cobble? Most every farm store catalog shows replacment rims to fit. Value built (shorten that) has them I'm certain, probably TSC, Shoup, and YTMAG. For sure Walt's Parts at Mexico, Mo.

I think the 8N has 6 bolts on a 6" bolt circle, standard for 6 bolt wagon wheels and tractor fronts since 1945 through today. IH Scouts also used that bolt circle. I have some scout wheels on a hay rack, unless they are on a rack I sold last year. I have HAD scout wheels on a 6 bolt hay rack.

Thanks again, listers

The comment about the Ford car rims from the 30's and the 9N is correct. I am told that the car hubs up to and including 1948 will fit the tractor spindle.

I couldn't find any wheels to fit, so I made my own - I cut the centers out of regular car rims and welded in round 1/4' plates that I made, with holes, to fit the 8N bolt pattern... I wouldn't recommend this for anything other than low speed use, but I made these wheels 30 years ago and they still go around today. steve in MN

have chabged quite a few-- I changed the whole hub bearings and all from for instance a 49 ford car- that way you get th4e best of both worlds 15 or 16 " tires etc. no prob. I have one 8N that has been that way for 20+ yrs

Somewhere in my memory bank something tells me I recall from reading that they were made with the same bolt pattern as the cars of that era...like a 1938 Ford. Anyone else know different? Fred OH

Fred, I believe '37, '38 and '39 Ford pass. cars had the large 10-1/4" 5 hole bolt circle wheels. Kinda makes sense; since the 9N came out in '39. I've also heard that other, earlier car hubs can be fitted so that the more common wheels can be used.

Those car wheels do not fit as they are 3/4" smaller than the 9-2N hubs, I have them on my 9N but used the car hubs as well. A lot of the information in the archives is from me

I was thinking the 2N and 9N had the large bolt circle Ford rims, and the 8N had small-bolt circle hubs and rims.

Anyhow, 1936 or so car HUBS are supposed to fit, allowing the use of the car 16" WHEELS also.

Film at 11:00 (OOOPPSS, I mean punch link below for photo).
