I bought a batter box door on ebay for mine. Not exactly original, but it works. They are in the way most of the time anyway, thats why they are all missing. THe 40 has 3 point hitch which is great.

I bought an MT a few months back. Paid $1400 for it, the mounted mowing machine, and a mounted 2-way plow. We did a tune-up, new tires, and a paint job. It sold before we were done! Got $3400. Good little tractors! John

They built 7 different versions of the model 40 Only tractor JD serial numbered seperatly for each version. All started at 60000 so in theroy someone could actually collect up 7 model 40 tractors with the same serial number. I always thought that this would be the ultimate collection feat.

Most of 'em back here in the REAL world have wide fronts. They were extremely popular in tobacco growing areas.

I'm hunting for a 435...It was a further development of the 40, and with a GM 2 cycle diesel. LOTS more torque...just be sure to wear ear plugs! John

TT,

I would guess anything this side of $4500 depending on you and your conscience.

Those little guys are kinda hard to find anymore.
