Would it be possible to add a farm toy category to the discussion boards? I for one would enjoy it. A lot of tractor collectors like myself collect toys as well. And the price of some toys are as much as real tractors. It would be a way to get more of an idea what toys are worth and which toys will be the next sought-after items.

Here is a very neat web site that has toys and lots of links to toy builders, collectors, sellers, etc.

I agree with the others that the Memorabilia board is the best place in YTMag to talk about toys. Also that it is not used much. Come on over...I'm not as expert as I sometimes think I am, but I sure am willing to try to answer questions or look up answers.

I went and checked out the memorbelia board. I noticed a couple of things. It does include toys, and I only looked at the first page and saw several topics concerning toys. I did notice not much is going on over there, but it does seem to be the kind of place you say you want.

Farmaller: I think you make a good point, memorbelia hardly describes farm toys. I am interested in farm toys, but see a good many degrees of quality out there. At my age I only have use for and room for my SA, 130 and 140 Farmalls. I wouldn't mind having models of all the tractors I farmed with plus a 1/2 dozen others. Probably 20 to 25 at most. I have been to a few shows and came home empty handed. To me those toys showing no detail are still worth the $25. we paid for them 30 years ago. I am willing to put out the dollars but I want precission. My question is, just who does this best?

Precision models are available! In fact, that is what ERTL has been calling it's series of such models. Expect to pay $110 to $130 LIST price for new ones! Out of production, and POPULAR models bring much more! The last JOHN DEERE PRECISON model, #25, is the JD 5020.

YODER used to make a line of very detailed PLASTIC models a few years ago as well. They are all out of production and getting pricier by the day!

We already have one....sorta...

There's a "Memorabilia" board that is supposed to take care of that issue.

I'm into collecting toys AND 1/1 scale tractors.

I have 339 1/16th scale tractors, and 155 impliments. All but 3 are John Deere.

Once upon a time, I had all brands. Space consideration made me sell off most all of my "non-GREEN". 2 nights ago, I added another IH tractor to the collection. When the Ertl "Key Seies" 1206 comes available, I'll add another.

Here is a picture of the latest addition.

(I hang out on "Tractor Tales" but check in from time to time on the memorabilia board. If there was more activity there, I'd spend more time. John

If you've got little kids or grandkids, it must be fun keeping them off those shelves. I've got only about 10 toy tractors and I keep making rules all the time like "OK, nobody plays with the steel tractors anymore", but then I keep giving in to the grandkids when after we make eye contact. A few broken parts here and there but for my meagre collection, what the heck right?

4 grandkids.....The collection is on shelves that START at 5' off the floor, and go UP!

There's only been one problem with someone playing with the collection....That was my 35 year old cousin. John

Ugh... I know what you mean about your 35 year old cousin. Not long ago my parents were here and I showed my 94 year old dad my 1/12 scale precision Oliver Super 99 by the Franklin Mint. He went for the steering wheel and turned it to see if it worked. Ugh, I was about sorry I showed him but phew, it didn't break.

Down at the bottom of the discussion menu forums, I think the toys are within the "tractor memorabilia" section are they not? You're probably wanting a separate section by themselves I would guess. I've never gone in there so I don't know how much toy stuff shows up.
