Well if Santa would get the S-O-S and tph hitch working on our 6000 Ford would be present enough for me! With four tractors to keep up with I feel like I ALMOST have enough (though the wife has pointed out that we don't have any orange or green ones yet...)

Hmm, a working replica of the 1892 Froelich would be nice, or an auto plow (Indiana or Moline Universal).

Hey John,

Your Texas heritage is showing! 99.99% of all LPs gotta be down in your neck o the woods. :>)

Hasn't that 966 taught you the "correct" method of diesel power yet? LOL!

Allan, You know me by now, That my 966 is my favorite tractor ButI have another Love too. And,I know DSL is the The fuel of choice these days. But I've got to get a Stage III,SMTA-LPs before they are all scrapped out.
It is the same animal as the Gassers that we see go for Large $$$. But it is a Factory built LP even though some were done at the factory and the rest at the LP manufactures here @ Lubbock or San Angelo Texas. and best part, only 500 were made.
Worst part, is most people think they are field conversions when they first see them and either scrap them out or convert to gasoline.
Most are here in the Panhandle/South Plains or San Angelo and West Texas. Occasionally there is one that surfaceses here in Cen-Tex.
My wish list is to get one of each , The Super Sages I,II,III, And a IV,aka a 400LP . All on LP that is my wish list.
Sorry for the ramble.
Later,
John A.

Hello John,
What part of the Panhandle are you at? I am living in Eastern New Mexico right now. Sorry, but I don't know where a SMTA is at. But if your interested in doing a conversion I might know where a fuel tank and carb from a Super M is.

I have recently purchased a John Deere 630 (family owned) that could use a new carburator. Any idea of anyone that might have one that won't cost me almost as much as the tractor costed me? This tractor is/was my father's, and was also the last tractor my uncle farmed with. The old girl has been sitting outside for many years and needs a lot of TLC. But can't fathom the thought of it being scrapped out because of all the family history that is tied up with it.

later days mate,
Jim

CRUSADER, I don't live in the panhandle now. Was between Stratford,TX And Texhoma,OK. When I was still farming up there. My wifes people still live @ Stratford. I am now down here in Cen-Texas South of Lampasas,Tx.
I am not into converting too much but,for grins and giggles what so you want for the carb & tank.
Now about that 60, A tractor that you can trace family linage is a good thing it simply intensifies the relationship. There is a difference to how you will approch your restoration of it. Your best chance is to start hunting on the JD Board. Post, if someone has one to sell, it will be like buying gold!
After you get it Take your time in doing it don't do anything that will come back to haunt you. OBTW...you will have to get the correct color of green or the JD Police will come to get you. LOL.
Have fun, Post here on the Boards for help and enjoy the ride as it goes.
Later,
John A.

John,
I'll have to check next time I am at the farm if the folks still have the tank and carb. Last spring when I was there they still did. The old JD 630 is/was not to bad a deal depending on how you look at it. My uncle (passed away Sep 01) had sold it to my dad around 1990. It's been kept outside ever since. I got bedders, cultivators, planters, and a 2 bottom moldboard plow, along with alot of stuff that was thrown in with the deal that I'll have to sort out.

Just got a little curious when I saw something in your post about the Panhandle. I'll be leaving in Sep 05 back overseas for a year. Not sure where I will go after that, but would love it if they sent me to Abilene. That would be about halfway in between the farm and here. LOL, my girlfriend is here and has no plans to leave, and the farm is near Waco.

later days mate,
Jim

Well Santa, There are a few I would like to have. One that comes to mind is a JD 70 that I sold about 25 years ago. I miss that old tractor. But the more that I think about it, my old H has been mighty good to me, just wouldn't be right parking a younger tractor next to the old H, she has feelings you know. so if you had in mind to park the JD 70 next to it, I would appreciate it if you would look around and find some young upstart in need of a fine old 70. Just tell em Redmud said Merry Christmas. You have a goodin to Santa.

I would'nt complain about any tractor left under the tree. But,if i had to pick one right now. I would say a Pioneer Special. Too late, JD-D, nope MM-UDLX, Farmall-450, Bates-Steel Mule. Guess I don't know. You'll have to pick one for me. Thanks!!

Well I'm partial to Minneapolis-Molines, but at the moment I'd rather have one of those Allis Chalmes "C" models. Those are the ones that straddle the implements aren't they? Implements such as cultivators, maybe short planters?

I know, you said make, not model, well MM or John Deere.

Now that you say that, yes, I know that's it.

If they didn't take so much space to turn around, maybe I should just get an old road grader and slap a tool bar where the moldboard should be. lol.

Here's a christmas tractor story.
An old farmer near here had a real nice JD830 (two cylinder) that he had owned since new. Before the antique tractor thing took off people thought he was odd to keep using that old thing. When antiquing became hot they all were begging to buy that old thing but he wouldn't sell it. a couple of winters ago I saw him and asked about the 830. He said he had sold it to a woman who pleaded with him to sell it. He finally agreed for $6500. He said she gave it to her husband for christmas!
So, it can happen if you married the right woman. When I told the story to my wife she said I didn't.
