I have a walk behind tractor (like a modern roto tiller) with a 1.5 Clinton engine that pulls a small single bottom plow, or a small harrow or cultivator. It has tractor lug tires and a small blade plow on front that may have been added later. I would like to know the year of the engine and if I can get rings & pistons or carb parts. The serial nbr is CC65690, Model 7038BR6. Can anyone help with any of this. Thanks

I Have Illus. parts manual for the 703-ABR6 in reply to Thomas King, 11-27-2004 10:41:15
Thomas: I have the illus. parts man. for the 703-ABR6 $5.00 which includes S & H. It was probably built before 1955 as that is the latest version of the parts list I have. The engine takes 3 different rings 3572, 3574-1, & 3573 (They also came in kit (set of 3) 3048-1. The engine had three types of carb. The Carter C4446, The Tillotson C3300 and the Zenith C3925. The Piston pn 3021. I do have a few parts but none of these if interested e-mail me and will send you some sources..Roe

Hi Thomas, Does your walk behind have flat metal for the handles? I have a bready that has flat steel for handles with belt drive and gear reduction on the wheels.

Clinton engine? Clinton plant in Iowa shutdown 1999, had been making some replacement parts since 1970s. Quick search brought up rings and gaskets available, Ebay had various old engines, manuals, parts. Note on engine HP rating-1.5 horse may be at 1800 RPM, compareable to about 4 hp at 3600 rpm new engines. Tecumseh 5hp replacement engine used to have governor small parts kit for 1600-1800 rpm use -generator and water pump replacement for 1950s spec engines. Keep engine speed specs in mind if you replace engine with new other than Clinton engine. RN.

I bought a walk behind for the tires at auction. It has "Grizzly" on it. No idea who manufactured it, or where.
It did not have an engine on it.

Clinton engines are long ago gone. Good luck finding parts. Unless there's some NOS stuff in the back of some old powershop, undiscovered, you may be having to try to cobble up something with whatever current parts you can make fit.

It almost sounds like an old divid brailey, does it have only one speed forward, and 2 levers to make things work. Also is it a pipe frame all the way up to the front? Also does it have a hood over the engine?

It has only 1 lever to make it work. It's belt driven and the belt tightens around a pulley on the motor. No hood on it and it has solid steel frame up to the handles. It and the implements are red in colour. Presume they always were. Amazing that a one and half horse could pull the plow. I pull it behind a 20 horse diesel and it works well. There are reduction gears on the "walk behind" tractor.

Thanks for the reply

Thomas

Sorry only gave partial answer. I has only 1 lever to put it in gear and a second one that controls the engine speed (gas) so other than increasing the fuel flow it has one speed.
