When preparing a tractor for winter storage is it best to drain out the antifreeze or leave it in?

Apart from other posts, the older tractors with liners were deemed to be more at risk from sleeve seals drying out and leaking, if drained over winter.
I would have thought that these days there is no reason for draining antifreeze as long as the pH is OK - just wasting time and money.

Years ago they drained the rad but that was because they didn't have antifreeze that worked well now days we do. Your rad. system will be better off if filled with the right mix of antifreeze and water.

My preference would be to make sure it is strong enough and leave it in. However I know the older manuals give instructions on draining and getting one ready to store for winter. I know a guy who at least a coupla years ago was still draining his old Ford every year and storing it for winter. I prefer to have mine ready and start them every once in a while and find something to do with them.

You will get less rust and have less hassle if you just put in a 50/50 mix of prestone. Never add unless it is the 50/50 mix, then you don't have to worry. Still a good idea to check every fall though. I drain and replace every other year. I know some say to do this every year, I have seen antifreeze go for years though and nothing happen. So every other year seems a good compromise to me.

Make sure that it is the proper strength and leave it in.

I read that one of the larger diesel engine companies does not want their cooling systems drained and exposed to air. They say water deposits will harden when exposed to air,and not soften when coolant is put back in.
