Made some modifications and added the side brace to the boom. This is the Light Rated Boom. I have a design Engineer going over the Heavy Duty Boom plans for stress points and load ratings. Mark H.

Willey you could modify this by adding bracket for boom to hook it on at top link then use a hyd cilnder to raise and lower boom. This way you would need less steel and by keeping 3pt lower you lower center or gravity and that would make tractor more stable and you may be able to lift heaver loads this way.And then you could also add a truss to boom to help stablise it a little more. your idea is good but when you stare at it long enough I always think I would do it a little different

By making the boom raise and lower by itself it makes it harder to brace side pulls on it. This is the only one I am making like this. The new one is much better & stronger. I was just testing with this style for ideas. Mark H.

Just a thought but don't you think that it would be better to use a steel brace instead of chain.

Chain will only prevent expansion so one chain is holding all the weight. Where a steel brace would only hold 1/2 the weight because it would work in expansion and compression mode.

Also I have been following your post on this subject and think you have a very good working idea for a self use attachment. To sell it to others may be a different story. The court system is over run with claims on liability. It is a major problem with the small business man trying to start a business today.
I wish you luck.

The new Heavy duty Boom uses a heavy Gauge Angle Iron for the side braces. Plus the boom is thicker along with another 2 braces on the 3rd top point link. I am only making one of the type in the picture and it is done. It was just for testing different ideas on. Mark H.
