I have a 4 year old 18 hsp Craftsman lawn Tractor with what I believe to be a hydrostatic transmition.
My problem is it doesent go as fast as it used to
in reverse. This also happened when it was new
and Sears sent someone down who my wife tells me
fixed it in about 5 min"s. I"m sure it must be a quick adjustment somewhere but I don"t see anything obvious. "Any Sugestions?!"

Actually I believe there is an adjustment on mine. It"s under the right rear fender kind of between the tire and frame. I last looked at it a couple of years ago so I don"t remember exactly how it works.

Have you tried replacing the drive belt? I don't think there's anything you can do with the hydrostatic transaxle; either it's good or bad.
