Looking for some help. I have a 1976 Ford 550 Backhoe. My v-belt that runs fron the crankshaft pulley to the water pump pulley to the alternator pulley just snapped. In order to install a new one , I have to temporarily disconnect the hydraulic pump shaft from the crankshaft pulley. Would anyone know the best way to access the supposed 4 bolts that can disconnect the hydraulic pump shaft from the crankshaft pulley. Thanks!
Andrew

There are "take-apart" v-belts available that work quite nicely. I've got them on my Deere, Case and Ford backhoes and loaders. No more screwing around with removing or disconnecting hydraulic pumps just to replace a belt. I've been using them for years, and they last just as long - if not longer - than the original one-piece belts. There are many places that sell them. Most popular brand I've seen (and used) is Powertwist. One website that describes them is at:

you may have to remove the front counter weight to get access to the pully

Use a long 3/8' drive extension and a Flex-socket.
SAFELY prop the loader bucket up and you should be able to reach it trough the casting openings under the radiator. Some of those tractors have a filler plate in front of the radiator you can remove also.
