I live in a rural area and I am interested in a 4X4 front loader for snow removal and light earth moving, does this type of equipment exist in the antique market. If so what make and model? Thanks.

It's a sellers market for loader tractors. As every farm operation needs them and they can be used for other tasks as well. Plus with the flight of people with money into the rural countryside. They need something to mow large lawns, move snow and etc. The end result is a loader tractor 20 to 45 years old in decent shape still sells for near it's new price. New loader tractors in the garden tractor and over grown garden tractor sizes sell for more $$$ than a 50HP utility tractor. Check out the Deere site for the 2000,4010 and 4020 class of compact tractors. Then check out the 5205 tractor with four wheel drive with a 500 series loader. In 10 years time your SUV or pickup will be worth very little but in 20 years time your 5205 with a 542 loader will still be worth the same.

To sum up an answer, not really. If you are looking for a very small inexpensive loader tractor, the best bet would be an older garden tractor with loader - could be had for 3 grand or less in very good shape. In the 70s many garden tractors had little front loaders available.

In terms of true antique farm tractors, all the loader tractors are big and bulky, and certainly not 4wd. You can get a light loader on a ford tractor, same with IH utility and Massey, but most dont have power steering and are quite clumsy because of the large size.

I am sure someone else will chime in with other ideas...

I'll let the experts post about the antiques but I can tell you to stay clear of the cheapie Chinese-made tractors. Around my parts, the ones I am talking about go by the brand name of Farm Pro. They look nice from a distance - shiny new red paint. They have real nice price tags (25hp 4x4 for $8500). Get up close and you'll see how cheap they are. The parts are very tough to get ... and you'll need parts.
