I just started a non-profit steam engine museum and i need to know how many people would be interested in helping to support this organization. Hopefully, with your help we can save and restore steam engines for future generations.Thank you for your time.

If your going to have them running the insurance price may be very high. Since the one that blew up at Medina Ohio everyone is running scared of them at shows. Even the local insurance company that owned one couldn't afford the insurance so they donated it to the fair for non running displays only. Liabilty has ruined a lot of shows lately.

I think, if you are going to have live steam tractors, your safest bet would be to have every tractor operating at your show be completely rebuilt in the boiler area, anywhere live steam is going to contact it! And have them inspected by boiler/ live steam inspectors! Yes, it is neat to see the old timers operating, but you have to have them safely running! I get a little "antsy" standing near a live steamer, especially if there is no current inspection label/ plate on it! by: Rusty Jones

steam engines shouldn't scare any one. I have been operating steam engines since i was about 6 years old. I operated the families 30 hp case by myself at the age of 8.That accident in ohio was operator error plain and simple. Pennsylvania has had boiler inspection laws since the late 70's.And i wouldn't run and engine with a bad boiler. There really should be a goverment standered set up with inspections though. that would keep insurance costs down.but i don't see anyone fighting for steam engines. thats why i am!
