..... That people could enjoy. It was fun, informative, and very friendly. Then one or two semi-literate trolls tried to prove they could push the "regulars" off of the site. They decided that their somewhat off-center viewpoints were the gospel. They thought that their "humor" was worthy of all of our attention.

The re-occuring theme was "I have a GOD-given Right" to my freedom of speech. I can say whatever I choose, to whomever I choose. Accuracy suffered. Truth suffered. The informational value of the site fell of the map. It became a haven for trolls.

A good many people had put forth a lot of effort to create and maintain the site. Their work was lost.

Bottom line; A really good thing was gone for good, all because a couple &%@$ decided to show they could "take over" and run off those who made the site what it was.

I won't name the website. It has re-opened after a few years. (It IS a NASCAR site)

This site is slowly headed the same way. Just because one or two people want to force their beliefs on everyone else, the decline has started. It can be reversed. All it takes is a sense of decentcy to prevail. This is not an outhouse for outhouse peots to write on the wall with their latest words of wisdom. In case you haven't noticed, the OWNER of this site has taken exception to the comments and activities of the last few days. That alone SHOULD be enough to convince people to straighten up. Apparently not....

I fully expect this comment to draw fire....Probably from the same person(s) that I'm commenting on. Go right ahead. Shoot yourself in the foot. Just remember, you're a terrible aim, and you're shooting all the rest of us in the foot at the same time.

When i started posting on here, it was hands down the greatest site on the internet. The site is still top notch...Just the handfull of trolls that are hellbent on ruining the place are starting to make it not worth the trouble...

Those of you that this message DOESN'T apply to, you know who you are. And you know who I'm referring to.

Those that this DOES apply to, you know who YOU are also.

For all those who play by the rules, thanks. John

Seems to be this board of the forum where I mostly hear the silly banter, political viewpoints and quibbling back and forth. Starting to wonder if everyone on Tractor Talk Board are kinfolk.

I think you fooled Kim in your guise of how great the site is and how it suffered while you had your own political view point that others didn't agree with.
None of this happened where did you get this from?
"push the "regulars" off of the site"
"could "take over" and run off those who made the site what it was"
And this is your own wording that this post should be deleted like the other political posts;
"off-center viewpoints"
"Accuracy suffered. Truth suffered."
"force their beliefs on everyone else"
I think some of the people went too far in their political arguing but none hid their agenda like you, telling how great this site was while pushing their your own views on everybody else.
I called a lady a troll because I never saw her here before and she started the political rhetoric again. These post where only viewed for about five minutes before they were pulled. I think you had Kim snowed while you were reporting all these post because they didn't agree with your view points.
I personally don't have set view points. I more take the side of the under dog or if someone spouts something so off that it could be an out and out lie.

It's funny today that thses 6 or 7 that complained are now looking like like the ones with a foot in there mouth up to the knee. Now that the hipacrites have been exposed, after going mental over a joke since you found a few things offending. Well did you ever think some of your post offend people also? like constantly raving about bush& kerry,or bring up GOD yes that offends some people not every body belives it that but they tolerate those who do. Unlike some of you ,so who is really going to ruin this site well I guess all of us that are posting here remember it's easy to point the finger at others put it not easy to point at your self now is it boys and girls. So we must all learn to tolrate each other as we all have different views about life and and policits and where we end up when we die. but one thing we all have in common is old tractors so lets leave it at that and not bicker like those clowns in the middle east I belive that it's safer in Bagdad right now than it it here!

I guess you missed the concept of my post or indy is one of your buddies since you didn't post who you are.
I will say this slow so you can understand. Indys post is political too because he doesn't state get rid of all the garbage he states get rid of the posts I don't like.
I have never posted religious and actually called attention to one to get it deleted.
When Kim shut it down I think that means everybody not post some veiled message.

tlak that is who I was tring to reach I thought Indy and myself got along. But I guess I was wrong all this is a squriting match to see how far someone can spray liquid up the post. And it ruins this site like I said we all don't have the same belifes, but we have the same liking for old iron. but this has turned in to a power struggle among 6-7 people that what to dictate content while posting there own off the wall crap then having the nerve to have others removed. you know what they say about paper rearends.

Very well stated.

It's pretty easy to say you are going to move on. Not be part of the problem. But when you start another hateful post as this one, you've shown your true colors. How does that saying go, better to remain silent and be thought of as a fool....?

I would personally have off-topic jokes on here rather than this juvenile name calling that has went on. It proves no points. It shows no intelligence at all, let alone the ability to prove a point on merits alone. It has about as much class as someone who uses the f word 3 times per sentence.

Having said that, this moronic troll with no sense of humor will get off his soap box. I really hope this is enough to get this spiteful post deleted.

You may be mad that this site hasn't been pure tractors but posting like your daring somebody to post something is like starting it all over again.
I'm against cussing somebody even if its cartoon cussing (&%&$#) and there was a lot of that that needed to be deleted but I didnt see much else out of line other than not being tractor.
I think everybody got the message with Kim deleting posts.
Ive been here probably five years and don't really know who would be a troll since people come and go, maybe you have some inside info.

I'm not sure exactly what post(s) you are referring to but I can imagine pretty easily. I can't figure guys who get downright ugly on a tractor discussion forum. Of course, it always relates to some off-topic post and I don't mean painting your fence, trapping gophers or your Dodge diesel truck. It's usually the political posts that get things going (and religion too sometimes) and I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone would post such stupidity here on such a good, clean, hobby-interest site. I suspect that those who get into the serious name-calling etc. are pretty grumpy people at home, in the community, and at work. Most likely always looking for some sort of a fight or an argument and of course they have every right in the world to act that way too. I just don't get it. If there were other tractor websites as good as this one a guy would have some choice but I don't think there's anything else even in the same ballpark as the YT site, at least I haven't seen anything. Tractor tales is the place for those kinds of off-topic posts (political, etc) but I quit visiting there some time ago ... it seems to be taken over and run by the "current" in-crowd which seems to change every now and then. I just wanna stay right here and read and learn about tractors and maybe some farm/country related topics and problems that people have.

Trolls? Stormchaser has shown up again? Clod and Burrhead scrapping? The beastly sense of humor trolls? My questioning of Burrheads political statements? Another week for political comments then we should be able to get back to old tractors with minimal sidetracks. I don't think I've gotten too nasty- Burrhead might admit I've not gotten as bad as some others disagreeing with him. We've even expressed same opinions on goats. RN

Sometimes people have bad days. They take someone's remarks the wrong way, and it's off to the races....Hopefully, we are all adult enough to let bygones be bygones when it's all over. What upsets me is when someone repeatedly attemts to prove they are doing nothing but starting fights, and being a butthead. It doesn't take long to see through someone like that.

Recently, this site has been getting far too serious about topics that don't have any bearing on what SHOULD be the general topic of discussion.

I'm hoping that after the elkections are over, some of the siniping will die off. My other hope is that the average attention span of a "less-than-inteligent" individual will cause someone to get bored and go away.

If you will notice the "scorecard", It's decidedly in favor of those who want peace and harmony, vs. "troll". John

It's unfortunate. I haven't bothered to post on this Tractor forum in a month or so - I thought one of them offered me a deal that he would keep his junk in this forum, he would leave me alone, I would leave him alone. Then they got bored with themselves & tried to spread out to other forums on this site. Not suprisingly, he broke his word. Just the type of person he is.

www.farms.com used to be a Canadian version of this type of web site. The folks there were more small homestead types, and had a thriving set of forums about machinery, goat raising, taking care of hay ground. A very well kept & large database of messages. Back 5 years ago it was perhaps more popular than this site.

They changed software, and decided to let 'anything go' - any and all messages. Self-policing.

Go there. Check out their forums. Must be a Canadian thing, they call them 'Chat areas' but it is not live chat, just forums like this. Bottom of the home page.

For anyone that cares about other's opinions, go there. Look at the type of messages they get, and how old they are.

That is what this place will turn into.

My opinion.

I agree with you totally Indy, you said that very well.

When trolls take over, that's all that is left on a site in short order. It's sad to see what Kim built being torn down so rapidly.

Well, at least I now have fond memories of realron - he was gruff & out there, but once in a while he brought something to the table.

Paul, I'm suggesting that you continue to post WHEREVER you like, WHENEVER you like. It's people with a fair amount of knowledge like yourself, that makes this site so valuable to everyone else.

Just ignore the person or persons that you're having difficuklty with. They will soon get bored and go away, as little children do when they can't play with their toys.

In fact, people like that should make you more determined than ever to stick with what you know is right.

No one is listening to the nonsense being posted by said person(s). It's evident from the replies that most everyone agrees with yours and my position. ONE person has chosin to reply in a negative manner....Guess who? YEP!

From this point on, I refuse to dignify his comments with a reply. Please do the same. No matter how dense, he'll finally get the picture. John

Hidden in comments like "tractor dropped a cyl." talk. What joy do they get from this? At least one of them is ,I think, a nice guy with lots of help if he would just give up the crap.

Several of you would have a lot to offer, and seem like fairly nice folks.

But the tangent you have taken this web site off on has not been appreciated by many folks, and is indeed offensive.

If you do not know that, take a look back in the archives a month & look how rich & full this place was of people & information.

Now it is just a bunch of wise-crackers. No info, no point to it.

There sure is a place & time for fun & off-tilt messages, but that had never been the sole _intent_ of this web site, and is not what most of the regulars (who have little choice but to leave or totally ignore all this) want.

If you are genuine in your comment, that's good. I don't want you to go away. But could you give a dam about anyone else???? If you are just rattling on to see yourself in type as some do now, oh well. I'm trying to be civil. You be whatever you are.

But rest assured, many of the newcomers are offensive. This used to be a fun place, where people could meet with their friends. Not any more. Thanks a whole bunch.

Do I sound fruistrated? You bet. I held my tounge about this for a month. I stayed away from the Tractor Talk page - let you boys have your fun.

But then several of you didn't have enough with that - seems you are bent on taking over all the web pages here, with pointless 'fun'.

What are the rest of us to do??? I'm not asking anyone to leave - sure not my place. But can you look at yourself, and look at the posts your friends have made here, and really think any of that is in good taste, or appreciated by anyone else?????

If you are serious, and you don't know it - yes it has been very offensive for the past month.

My problem isn't with that person. It's perfectly OK to interject a bit of humor in our post's. It's with ONE persons diligent effort to porove he can be an obnoxious, juvinile, illiterate, mouthy troll, that can ruin this site, because it's his right.

NO IT'S NOT. This is a privately owned website. There are standards. Those very standards are the reason MOST of us are here, and NOT on some teenage chat line. We DON'T like certain behavior. Neither does the OWNER of this site. Enough said....John

I believe that we are at a moment in time that could effect our old tractor hobby a great deal. Most of the people that make posts here are very decent compared to many of the chat sites. I have noticed that some of us can't even spell the greatest or puncuate good but we are not teased about it. This is a great site and it provides a lot of help to almost anyone without question. It will survive interesting off topic posts and if it doesn't it won't be worth being here anyway. Remember it take interest for us to participate.
