Just traded for a John Deere G. Need to put a tire and rim on but can't get the wheel center off the hub. (It's turned so as to narrow the track.)Is there a secret?????

Lots of penetrating oil. Put a chain through one of the holes in the wheel, around one of the mounting bolts on the axle, and back through a hole opposite the first. Turn the wheel till the chain is tight. Back it off a little. Then with all you've got, or maybe with a buddy helping, spin that wheel as hard as you can tightening up the chain. May take several tries, but it will break loose.

Lots of beating and pentrating oil maybe lots of heat and a lot of cussing. but I have always found it's easier with keyway turned to botton if your axle has one.

Thanks. Been using two hammers, oil. Heat is next. How fragile is the wheel center? Will cleaning and greasing help prevent the next one?
