Hi fellas, Just to let you know I recently completed a deal with a gentleman from England and my Fordson is now at it's new home in London.
I was very cautious and insisted on the tractor not leave my property until after the check cleared (my bank said up to 18 days) or if he wanted it before that, cash only. He readily agreed. I was happy with the price and he was very happy with the tractor. My bank said I could have set up an account with very few $ in it and had a wire transfer of the money to speed things up, then withdraw the funds so no one else could get at it. I did receive several inquiries, offering a cashiers check sometimes by a third party or for more than the price, so when you get those, just hit the delete button. If they're a serious buyer, they'll wait or pay cash.

If you go to the Farmall board you'll find a lot of peple inquiring about Internationals.

{Sorry, I've had a little too much caffein this morning and I probably need to get out more!}

I agree, and I think that most will in general. The problem is that some give everyone a black eye. The problem with getting scammed from someone overseas is that there is little or no way to get justice. And it's not just overseas, it happens in these continental United States as well.

You are exactly right, but it's also seller and buyer beware as well.

Glad that your's was a success, it was supposed and intended to be.

I'm glad that someone else has had success with international buyers. For several years I've sold hay and embryos (cow) over seas. It has its own set of rules but as long as you play smart it is rewarding. To date I've had customers in Korea, Japan, and the Canary Islands for hay and England, Guatamala, and Bolivia for cattle embryos.

Now that's amazing. Understand the embryos, but hay too. You'd think the shipping charges would be prohibitive.

Have a neighbor that was in the Simmental cattle business and shipped regularly to South America. Would truck the animals from TX to So Fla. and boat em across. Don't know why he had to truck to Fla. Tx. has the 3rd or 4th largest port in the nation (Port of Houston).

Hayman, you never cease to amaze me as to what you are involved in. Might ask to just follow you around when I retire. Would be very eventful I'm sure.

My latest tractor purchase was an international deal and as previously stated, turned out to be a better deal (and tractor) than I had ever hoped for.

Congrats on the international deal, I just had a 'local' deal on an International (460) and it didnt turn out so good. I knew it was going to be bad but thought I was getting it cheap enough, we'll see.

Mark, you flatter me, you're always be welcome here.

Hay deal was something I never considered until I went to Canada on a farm tour with our cattlemans group. Lots of hay there going to Japan, evidentally for fiber (pure timothy) seems that its a bear to import dairy products so they ave quite the local dairy industry. With the cost of land crops tend to be high value. Fiber to maintain rumen function is cheaper to import and very mature timothy is a good and cheap source, plus there are plenty of empty shipping containers heading back to the far east. Have to double compress to make the freight worthwhile but it has been a good deal when I have a lot of excess. I only cleared the same $100 a ton I get for selling hay next door with the extra costs of export and compressing but (in years like this one) where I have a huge excess its a way to move product.

I have to agree, but you have to very careful. I have a cousin who lives in Guam. He operates a vegtable farm and buys all his equipment, new and used, in the U.S. Even with shipping, it"s cheaper than buying over there.

You are right. I deal across the pond quite often. I have yet to have any problems with this - apart from the odd comment of surprise that I am serious!
