I think the boat/motorhome comparison is apt; both conjure visions of freedom, new horizons, adventure...maybe throw in airplanes...when you get down to 'em, its expensive, and boring. Flying, no place to pee, no coffee stops, damned little scenery you can see, and it feels like you're frozen in time; boats, like being in jail with a good chance of drowning, and motorhomes, endless repairs, can't haul your tools, and you can park in a Walmart lot for as long as I'm interested in a car....the tractors sound right to me...

Hey, thanks for the offer....I know I was a little far out, but it was poetic license in the interest of making for a better rant..I'm sure flying can be fun! I almost made flight school during the Vietnam War...seemed like a good idea at the time, but on reflection I guess it was a good thing I didn't make it. Enjoy!

It always amazes me the different ways that guys post classifieds here on the discussion forums. This motorhome one is a new one. Maybe the divorce story will be next? Just kidding but these things should be in the classifieds as the webmaster asked when you made your post.

Idunno, Rich. For the 30-60 grand you're gonna plop down for a motorhome, you could stay in an awful lot of nice hotel rooms.

That line of tractors, while not my color, sounds pretty nice. A guy I work with claims he has a buyer willing to pay 25 grand for one of his Cubs when he's ready to sell. Not sure how much of a strecher of truth the guy is but if thats the going rate for a Cub, I'd say you have enough tractors to make the swap. Now, whether or not you WANT to make the swap...

Good luck on your decision.

I think I'd try to find out who that buyer is and then go out and buy myself a restored Cub and flip it to him, maybe make say $21000 or so. That would be nice. Meanwhile, I somehow doubt your workmates story. Does he do a lot of daydreaming at work?

Hi Richard,

This is totally non of my business and whoa be it for me to be giving someone else advise, but are you really sure you want to do that?

Motor homes are like school buses: very high initial cost and then three years later you have a tin covered stick box that you cannot give away no matter what you do; nobody wants it. Ever try to sell a school bus?

Like my Nebraska Cowman friend likes to say: "Just trying to help you think". :>)

Hope I'm not out of line here,

Allan

You would be better off to keep tractors and just outrite buy one you won't get much of a motor home for those few tractors. soon the tractors will be worth more than a motor home.

You will have two good days with a boat or motor home. The first time you use it and the day you sell it. I have experience with both.

Jerry, I can relate to that. I had a boat that had a huge hole in the bottom of it. It didn"t take in water, but it sure did syphon money at an exponential rate. I figure the best deal I ever made was the day I sold it at a $1,000 loss.

Ever own an airplane? That Grrrrr noise you hear overhead is the chopper working on someones wallet. Boats and Motorhomes make a similar sound for sure.

Sloroll, What do you fly? My long suffering wife just rolls her eyes at my "stable" of man toys. I have a Starduster TOO in the works. Airframe is complete, ready to fit Cessna spring gear and start controls. Not as expensive as a motorhome and it'll go just fine upside down! ;>)

Well now,a feller I know was thinking of getting a motor home. Decided to rent one first. Took atrip with it and that was enuf for him. Took too long to set up for the night and took awhile to get underway in the morning. Now they fly to where they want to go and rent a car and stay in motels.
