I posted the question on the implement board too. What hook angle do you use when sharpening your cordwood saw?

I sharpened it at 0 degrees as suggested. It didn't resist nor pull into the wood. Thanks for your help.

The man who sharpens mine used to have a negative angle on it, so it would not pull itself in too much. I got him to switch to just about right angles so it doesn't pull in, but it also doesn't resist me pushing it in.

Dave .... woodweb.com ... sawing & drying forum ... they discuss both band and circular saw mills .. maybe same set for saw mill works with a cordwood saw or at least it is a start in the right direction

Good Luck

Any saw, or any other tool for thast matter, should be sharpened in exactly the shape it was filed or sharpened from the factory. This is achieved by making sure that the entire surface of the filed portion of tooth is totally touched by the file on the first stroke. I sharpen my hand powered crosscut saws which I use in competetion. Also remember that all saws uswd in cutting wood need "set" in them. I will give more information by E-Mail if you request.

I agree. This blade hasn't seen a factory in many years. I wish the previous sharpeners had your advice. The saw has been sharpened off hand many times.
