Dillon is gift from GOD from birth, because my brother wasn't suppose to be able to have kids, we couldn't have asked for a better little boy. He is kind, loving, and caring. Never has a bad day, and is always giving, and never ask for anything in return. He is not selfish by any means and has never complained, even after what he has been through. I know I have never mentioned it , this IS about tractors. That little boy loves to go to his grandpas and ride the farmall C. Before this accident grandpa was about to turn him lose by himself. When he came out of pediatric ICU, and out of his 2 month coma, I asked him what he wanted. He told me, " a red tractor". That is all it took for me. My wife and I drove across Little Rock in a pouring down rain to Wal Mart, and bought the ONLY red tractor they had. A farmall H and a trailer. If you could have seen the look on his face, holding that tractor and trailer..... it said it all.Between his grandpa, his great uncle, and myself...we have a total of 17 tractors, and no we are not color blind. There are fords, farmalls, and john deeres.I have never mentioned tractors while Dillon was injured, I just havent had the heart to do anything with them. But now that he is home we are planning a Halloween get together, complete with a weeny roast, and tractor rides....and Dillon will be grand marshal.A home addres for Dillon is : Dillon Holbrook 761 West Polk 20 Cove, Ar. 71937....He still needs to hear from you. Sorry for the long winded post, but this little guy means more to me than ALL my tractors. Charlie2pop

Charlie, I have seen several antique and classic tractors retrofitted with a home made hand operated clutch. My high school ag. instructor lost a leg during his high school days, he jerry-rigged an old military jeep with hand controls, and that jeep took him anywhere he wanted to go. We also learned that we couldn't get away with misbehaving in shop class either, don't EVEN think you were going to outrun him, he could reach out a looonng way with those crutches. What I am trying to say I guess is never say never, where there is a will, there is a way. Say HI! to Dillon for me.

Got to agree 100%.
Had this happened to a elderly man it would bring him way down.

But Dillon is young and he will adapt. You can see that in the way he acts and his strong will power. That is one special young man. I have a child that was born with a birth defect. You would be very surprised at how children adapt to meet their special needs. It surprised me to see how my child adapted.

Don"t let that kid fool you. Given some time and practice he will be able to overcome losing part of that leg. He will show you what can be done by innovation and true grit. If he wants to drive a tractor then maybe an old Deere with a hand clutch will do.
